Meet Laura Tendo

Laura Tendo was born and raised in Majengo, where she lived with her mother. Like any other child, she pursued her education in Vihiga County. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, life took a challenging turn when many businesses, including her mother’s salon and hairdressing venture, were forced to shut down.

With no source of income, Laura found herself struggling to afford basic necessities, including sanitary towels. At the time, she was still in primary school and had already discovered her passion for modelling, having participated in several competitions.

As the pandemic subsided, Laura began visiting local communities to showcase her talent. It was during these visits that she realized many young girls were facing the same struggle she had lacking access to sanitary towels. This realization inspired her to establish the Laura Foundation, a platform dedicated to supporting underprivileged girls.

Since then, she has partnered with various organizations to advance her cause and has also earned multiple awards in the modelling industry. Through her efforts, Laura continues to make a meaningful impact in her community, ensuring that no girl has to miss opportunities due to the lack of basic necessities.

Meet Mama Laura Tendo

As a mother, it was painful to see Laura struggle during the pandemic when I lost my salon business. She lacked even basic necessities like sanitary towels, and I could see how much it affected her. Despite everything, she remained strong and focused on her modeling, using it as a way to keep going.

When she told me about starting the Laura Foundation, I knew she had a big heart. I supported her by encouraging her and helping where I could. Watching her win awards and help other girls facing the same struggles makes me so proud. She turned her challenges into something meaningful.
